My first max was 115lbs and 145.
By my senior year I was 165 and benched 225 finally.

Biggest Raw deadlift at this meet was from my training partner Brian Kissel with 630.
It was his second attempt, hurt his shoulder, so he couldnt go for a third.
With a deadlift of 580, and I know you're strong in the other lifts, you'd be doing very well.

LOL, Kroc is a world class lifter and that was a multi-ply total.
Dont worry about the numbers of guys at the top.
Just keep bustin tail and youll get where you want to go.

Their are some meets that require qualification, but not many.
As IRBS said, you compete against who shows up and, more importantly, yourself.
Just keep pushing the boundaries.
Squat, Bench, and Pull a weight no one thought was possible.
Breaking 1000 for a first meet is always good in my book!

I believe in the IPA you have Pro and Am.
Amateur is link tested and Pro is not.
If you total Pro, you will have to compete in the Pro division from there on out in that weight class.
You can remain drug tested and compete Elite Amateur, but you have to pay for your own test.

My goals at the moment are 1500+ lbs total in july, continue gaining ground on the deadlift, and Stay injury free.

Crap, At arnold this yr's 275 winner was just under 1800 total raw!
I was looking at the plwatch lifter rankings and an 1800-1900 total would put him in the top 10 over all federations.

USAPL has quite a few meets around here.
Most meets you can sign up for the federation at the meet.
I am not sure of NASA's site.
Both are pretty good feds for a drug free lifter.
USAPL is a bigger federation.
Look into the ADFPF.
We have a couple meets in Michigan coming up in August.
You can join at the same time you send in your entry form.

Started competing in powerlifting in April 2010 in NASA federation.
I have yet to compete in a full powerlifting meet.
So far I have only competed in power sports, which consist of curl, bench and deadlifts.
I compete in the SHW.
My next competition will be a full powerlifting meet.
Did powersports before because working on correct squat form before trying to add a lot of weight.

Just competed this past weekend after about a year or more layoff.
Well it went really well I competed in the RAW NO KNEE WRAPS Amature Junior 20-23 220lb division and weighed in at a light 212.
Meet went like this Squat: 500 Bench:385 Dead: 615 Total: 1500 I took 1st place and was the best raw lifter of the meet.

So I finally did a powerlifting meet, the Albany Strength Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships in Albany, NY, sanctioned by the USAPL.
They each got one white light.

Squatted the weight and fell back at the top 2nd Attempt: 601 Stupid Easy, Form Dialed in 3rd Attempt: Got fucked, was supposed to be 648 they loaded 700.

I've hit 700 in the last month but if it isn't on the platform then it doesn't do me much good!
Plus my briefs didnt fit under my suit when I transitioned back up from 220 to 242 so yes I lost a little support there.
But I'll build and improve.
